The Tinsa report revealed that property prices in Mijas increased by 15.3%. However, the firm’s commercial director pointed out that there is still a long way to go before reaching the 2007 price peak.

He also stressed that stricter lending regulations and gradual price increases are keeping the market stable. As a result, the Costa del Sol is far better protected from the kind of property bubble seen before the financial crisis.

• The Greek hotel chain Ikos has invested €150 million in a new luxury hotel in Estepona, which opened in 2020.

• The Four Seasons Group is developing a luxury beachfront hotel and private residences in Marbella, with a €650 million investment.
